    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
I think he wanted to say to many important government officials that they should keep in mind this climate change was related to their countries extremely. And they should consider how to resolve the problems seriously for themselves. He said in this presentation that “As if pretending that climate change wasn’t real would somehow make it go away. But I think we all know better than that now.” I think he was suggesting that we all should not get caught up in the immediate profit or seek just for our benefit. It’s important to stop pretending not to know the truth and run away. we should take action immediately for protecting truly precious things that may be lost by climate change in the near future.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
Some small island nations are now endangered of sinking in the sea in the near future because of rising sea level caused by global warming. People in those countries live their life with a lot of anxiety. People living in such a community emit a little greenhouse gas which is the primary gas causing global warming. This means they are exposed at risk losing their homes or families by people like us who live in industrial countries and emit a lot of gases everyday. This is the matter we cannot overlook. We are fully responsible for this problem. And we should face it and try to solve the problem.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
Most greenhouse gas was emitted by industrial countries. Nevertheless, most countries which are getting seriously harmful effects of global warming are developing countries. So I think more strict restrictions and punishments should be imposed for industrial countries. For example, more taxes for carbon usage, a pledge to use clean energy to registered amount , expensive penalties for exceeding the gas amount they can emit and so on should be applied to mayor industrial countries. And also industries and governments should work on some approaches to boost the morale of the nation. Global warming will not resolved not only by industries and governments but also people in the whole world. And industries and governments have much influence with the nation. They must make the nation noticed that they are also responsible for global warming and should do what they can do.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
We need to solve the climate change problem, which is difficult to solve but is achievable task. We have to take actions not only individuals but also industries and government. It means what individuals take actions such as changing lightbulbs or buying hybrid is also important but what government make a rule such as reducing the emissions of carbon dioxide or eliminating government subsidies for all oil, coal, and gas companies is more significant to prevent global warming. They do not deserve the citizen’s tax dollars and they just deserve the economy itself, which make the global warming worse and worse. For these reasons, he suggests as a citizen that delegations should take actions such as making rules to prevent global warming.
    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
I concern the most that the West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets are melting at unprecedented rates decades because it makes some islands disappear. When the ice sheets melt, water level rise will be happened. I introduce a country, Tuvalu, as an example. Tuvalu is a small country and does not emit a lot of the amount of Carbon Dioxide. However, they are in crisis, sinking. Although there are much amount of the Carbon Dioxide developed countries emitted, the small countries, low lying countries, are actually damaged. To prevent this situation, developed countries should reduce the amount of Carbon Dioxide emission.
    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
Industries and government should take actions on a large-scale because individuals do not have strong power than they have. For example, countries should make a goal of the amount of Carbon Dioxide emission. One of the ways to achieve this goal is renewable energy, which is also good economic policy. Recently, because many countries replace fossil fuels to renewable energies such as solar power or hydropower, the amount of Carbon Dioxide has been decreasing.

    A) What is DiCaprio’s message?
He mentioned about climate crisis, and how we should take measures this crisis. Nowadays, we always face new different climate issues every day. It represents the climate crisis is being worse. He argued that solving this issue is extremely challenging. There are several climate changes problems like rising a sea level. In addition, numerous people have been suffering from these issues, so we have to start actions to prevent these problems as soon as possible. He said, “now must be our moment for action”. He suggested that using the renewable energy is one of the best solutions to decrease the climate crisis. Everyone must care about this issue because solving this issue will decide whether we can survive or not. These for reasons, I think that what he wants to tell us the most is that we need to start conducting actions now to keep our society as these climate changes are urgent signs and messages for people all over the world.

    B) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
I worry about the West Antarctic and Greenland ice have been melting. This problem has serious effects on island country. Now, Tuvalu has already been affected by this climate change. Tuvaluan have been in the serious situation which their country has been losing bit by bit by the cause of rising the sea level. As a result, they have to acquire their statement safely. It’s the serious problems. Although almost all countries have not affected this climate changes yet, this climate change is going to negative effects on numerous countries. Japan is also one of the island countries, so my country might be affected someday by this issue. Therefore, this is one of the most my concerns.

    C) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
Governments should invest in sustainable energy, then government should abolish consuming too much coal and oil to keep our society. Nowadays, the climate issues are getting worse because of carbon emissions. Although everyone knows to emit too much carbon dioxide is one of the serious causes to be promoted the climate changes, we could not stop emitting them as useful items for us like car generate carbon dioxide. Since we could not solve this problem by ourselves, as it is a huge problem, government should take developing sustainable energy. If it becomes more common than now, the number of carbon emissions will decrease dramatically. In addition, all country’s governments should admit sharing each country’s knowledge and information to solve this issue as soon as possible. The governments should cooperate with several institutions, then governments need to prepare for enough systems for institutions to create sustainable energy easily.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
Extreme weather caused by global warming has serious negative impacts on human life. Some people are suffering from food shortages due to drought. Alhough everyone has already known this fact, no specific action has been taken. Governments have to consider this emergency and implement some concrete policy as soon as possible. It is also necessary to consider tax for companies that use a lot of conventional fossil fuels and to shift to renewable energy through subsidies for companies that emit a lot of greenhouse gases. Individual efforts are also required to stop extreme weather. For example, if everyone does small things such as buying a light bulb and riding hybrid cars, the power will be enormous. The most important thing to escape from this global environmental crisis is to do what you can for our planet from now on.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
The environmental problem that I am most concerned about is the increase in endangered species due to extreme weather. Because of global warming, sudden changes in temperature and abnormal weather are happening frequently. There are many cases that wildlife became extinct because they couldn’t withstand the bad environment. Polar bears, for instance, spend most of their lives on ice sheets, but the space of ice sheets is getting smaller because rising temperatures melt glaciers and raise sea levels. The lack of places to live means death. In order not to increase the number of endangered species anymore, we should take some specific action to stop global warming.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take? The first thing that governments and industries should do is to spread renewable energy more widely. The most serious reason why global warming is promoted is the use of fossil fuels. Reducing the emission of greenhouse gases when burning fossil fuels is the most effective way to stop global warming. Renewable energy emits less carbon dioxide than fossil fuels. In particular, carbon dioxide is not emitted from natural energies such as wind power, geothermal power, water power, and so on. In this way, governments and industries should promote the use of renewable energies that can contribute to a low-carbon society. Specific strategies are offering subsidies from the government to encourage companies and general households to install solar panels, and offering subsidies to local governments for the cost of installing biomass power plants is also an effective way. In this way, if renewable energy is easily used by not only industries but general consumers as well, the use of fossil fuels will be significantly reduced.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?

DiCaprio’s main message argued that solving the climate change crisis was not only a political issue. Also, our lives issue too. He mentioned that it was time to answer humanity’s greatest challenges and to face this climate change crisis with courage and honesty. Everyone already knows this problem such as the Scientific Community, the industry, the government, and even the US military know it. He also claimed that large-scale action needed to solve this issue. This should not only change the action of us personally, but also use the action of large institutions such as the United Nations. I believe that he is a person who can influence many people as an actor, so his message can encourage many people around the world.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

He mentioned that many climates change events such as droughts are intensifying and the West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets melting. I concern the most climate change event is that ice sheets melting. It has some problems. The first reason is that global warming is progressing twice as fast as the world average in the Arctic, and the area of sea ice in summer has decreased by two-thirds in the last 35 years, and the impact of global warming is the greatest. (Earth Sapiens Union, 2020). The second reason is that melting sea ice and rising water levels cause devastating damage to marine life. For these reasons, I concern about ice sheets melting.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

In this video, the industries and governments around the world should take decisive large-scale action. For instance, he mentioned that we need to put a price tag on carbon emissions and eliminate government subsidies for all oil, coal, and gas companies. Also, he claimed that we need to end the free ride that industrial polluters have been given in the mane of a free market economy. He argued that they deserve our scrutiny, not our taxes because the economy itself would die if our ecosystem collapse. In addition, he mentioned that the good news is that renewable energy is not only achievable but a good economic policy, so industries and governments should take these actions.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?

His main message is that preventing climate crisis is challenging but is achievable if all citizens and government immediately start proper behavior. He mentioned some approaches to avert climate changes such as displaying the amounts of carbon emissions, abolishing subsidies which government requires and terminating free-market economy. Moreover, Renewable energy is one of the achievable ways to solve this problem. He explained the recent climate situation as one of the citizens to give information of crisis we are faced. It’s very effective to discuss it to leaders in each country. As he presented, we don’t have enough time to solve this problem, we should urgently take some actions to prevent the progression of climate change now.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

Because of its extreme weather event, The West Atlantic and Greenland ice sheet has been melting at unprecedented rates. I believed this is the most concerning event. Especially, in Greenland, a few people are still living in the region. Therefore, if an ice sheet had melted rapidly and all of it had gone, people could not live there anymore. Moreover, if the ice sheet starts melting, the sea level will rise. According to TheGuardian, about 2 to 10cm of sea level will rise by the end of the century. Losing animal habitat is also a serious problem which is related to melting ice sheets. This event is caused by irregular climate change which is known as global warming. Every citizen, government and company has the responsibility of discharging CO2.

    C) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

He explained that government should eliminate subsidies for company and Industries should stop a free market economy. To maintain the economy, we must not collapse our ecosystems. This is a big change which is very difficult to work on, but he believes that it’s possible to solve. In order to stop progress of climate change, every people should have courage and honesty mind. Government and industries have a big impact on climate change, but, first of all, an individual has to know the situation that we are facing now and start caring about our environment. Moreover, He mentioned renewable energy is the best way which is achievable and is good for economic policy.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
He claims to industries and governments to take actions immediately. In the beginning of the speech, he said there is a fact that new and undeniable climate events are happing every week. However, the problem is that though powerful organizations, for example, the scientific community, industry and governments, have known these events, they don’t do anything. It is not the effective solutions to encourage people to change their mind to green or to encourage buying eco-friendly vehicles. The problem of the climate change has already become too big for individuals to handle. Industry and governments must work on large scale actions urgently and proactively.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
My most concern about climate change is extreme weather events. Due to global warming, squalls, which cause heavy rain and wind characteristic of tropical regions, are now occurring over a wider area. In Japan, record-breaking rainfall has been increasing in recent years. This has led to an increase in events such as the destruction of many houses, utility poles, and other public infrastructure, and the overflowing of rivers, as people are unable to withstand the stronger rain and wind than they were able to in the past. Similarly, global warming is turning many areas into tropical regions, and the traditional cycle of seasons is being lost. Especially in summer, temperatures are rising to unprecedented levels, interfering with our daily lives. Since it is impossible to control nature, governments need to take action to restore it to its original state.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
In order to solve the problem of global warming, we need to unite and implement a larger policy, rather than the conventional way of promoting policies in individual countries. It is extremely difficult for all governments to do the same thing because what they can do depends on their budget and wealth. Larger governments should work hand in hand to implement effective policies. Cooperation among countries that currently emit a lot of greenhouse gases will help solve the problem faster and more effectively. Also, in order to prevent global warming from getting worse, we need to set clear goals for the next few years, rather than just setting ideal goals. I also believe that we need a system that allows private companies to participate in this kind of thing, not just through policy.

    a)What is DiCaprio’s main message?
I think the most important message that he wants to tell us is not to run away from the fact of climate change as if it’s not our responsibilities. He mentions that people have already realized the climate change isn’t fiction but it’s real. Although numerous people around the world have been taking actions for the climate crisis, such as marching in the streets, it still has been accelerating more and more. Taking individual actions are obviously important but our ecosystem might collapse unless the politics and business community don’t take any movement. In conclusion, I strongly agree with DiCaprio’s message that cleaning air and a livable climate are inalienable human privileges. As long as we exist in this planet, we must not neglect this sever issue, and must try to deal with it bravely and sincerely.

b)He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
What I concern the most among the climate change events that he mentioned is extreme weather. Take high temperatures for instance, people know that it causes several human health diseases, such as heat stroke, dehydration and outbreaks of epidemics that we know well recently. In fact, heat stroke is one of the most serious annual issue during summer in Japan. Many people suffer from it, not only senior citizens and children but also healthy people. Even inside of houses, it sometimes affects us. How can we escape from this problem? Moreover, we have been seriously facing one of the most horrendous illnesses named Covid-19. We don’t really know where exactly it came from and what caused it. But I guess it was caused by nature. Because most illnesses, such as Malaria and Dengue fever are caused by mosquitoes which contain a virus inside of their body and they can live longer than usual thanks to high temperatures. For these reasons, we have been facing the dreadful illness consequently. I believe it’s time for us to take some actions, otherwise our world would be more compounded.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

DiCaprio brought up that how significant our industries and government should take actions more than individual. For instance, to put a price tag on carbon emissions, and eliminate government subsidies for all oil, coal, and gas companies. He also mentioned that they don’t deserve our tax dollars, but deserve our inspections. Fortunately, we found some sustainable energies which is not only achievable, but also good for economic policy. In my view, seeking these kinds of energies is the most urgent subject for us, and each person around the world should realize that natural sources are not unlimited too.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
His main message is climate change is not fiction, and industries and governments should take some actions to solve it. We has looked at climate change as if it did not happen in real world although we realize it through new and undeniable climate events. it is fact. The scientific community, industry, governments, and the United States military know that. The chief of the U.S Navy’s Pacific Commend said that climate change is only and the most threatening problem for security. We are facing the most difficult issue, but it is achievable task. In addition, this issue is beyond our choice, so industries and governments have to confront it. We mast stop some defective policies because if ecosystems are destroyed, the economy will also die. Solving this issue is not a subject for politics but for our own survival. He concludes his speech by saying that he doesn’t want leaders of world to pretend for a living; he wants them to face it with courage.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

I am concerned about drought because it may cause various problems. Not only the soil drys and becomes difficult to use for agriculture, but also the water we can use for agriculture decrease. As a result, it causes the food shortage. If the amount of food supply decrease, the number of people who get ill or starve will increase. It also affects ecosystem. Plants cannot grow, and habitats of wild animals are lost. They have to change the place to live or be adapted to the environment. If they cannot do that, they will be extinct. Therefore, I am worried about it.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

In this speech, he mentions that we have to put a pricetag on carbon emissions, and abolish government subsidies for fossil fuel companies. We have to finish the free ride that industrial polluters have been given in the name of a free-market economy. Moreover, he says, that renewable energy is not only achievable but good economic policy. Thus, government encourage companies to use renewable energy instead of fossil fuel: such as setting a limit to use fossil fuel or emission of CO2 and subsidies for using renewable energy. Individuals’ powers are weak to change the world; on the other hand, industries and governments have impacts. They need to take the intensive in solving climate change.

     a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?

DiCaprio claims that solving climate change is inevitable, but it is achievable; therefore, as a represent for citizens, he asks leaders around the world to solve this problem as soon as possible. Since the novel and unexpectable climate changing already happen, such as intense droughts and severe acidifying oceans, he hopes that people all over the world, including scientists, industries, and governments have already noticed this urgent fact from a same view. To survive, he appeals for that the top headers face this grown disaster that individualizes cannot handle anymore now. In addition, he strongly believes that renewable energy is reachable and a good economic policy for clean air and comfortable climate.

 b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

From DiCaprio’s climate examples, I believe that droughts are the most significant occasion in the world. A huge forest plays a key role in protecting the balance of atmosphere, such as ozone layer, but since the Industrial Revolution, governments and companies are disabled to deal with increased greenhouse gas emissions. Also, enormous trees are cut down in order to expand the agricultural and residential area. As a result, even though it happens raining at a regular basis, the ground results in dryness and rising temperature because logged area do not have the ability to store water under the soil. Likewise, according to WHO, water shortage influences 40 percent of the world’s inhabitants, and approximately 700 million people will have a possibility of harm of being moved as a consequence of drought by 2030. Therefore, I admit that solving drought is of paramount importance.

 c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

Based on DiCaprio’s opinion, it is of great importance for industries and governments to end the free-market economy that organizations who put damages to the environment have been provided the freedom in. In addition, they have responsibility for assigning a price in carbon emissions and abolishing government subsidies for all oil, coal, and gas companies. Although exploiting tax from citizens is not suitable idea, he suggests that studying severe climate changing is worth for the economy and renewable energy. Thus, he believes that global top leaders can reach this problem, making historic accomplishments without being berated by climate changing.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?

DiCaprio’s main message is that industries and governments must take the lead in taking measures against climate change. Today, climate change is getting worse and causing various problems. Droughts are intensifying, oceans are acidifying, and ice sheets are melting rapidly. And also, he claimed that this is an achievable task. However, climate change is beyond the range that can be solved individually, so industries and governments must take the initiative in improving it. He gave some examples of solutions. Government needs to put a price tag on carbon emissions and eliminate subsidies for fossil fuel companies. Therefore, he maintains that delegates around the world should start on taking measures right now for mankind to survive.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

I was concerned that West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets are melting. When the ice sheet melts, the sea level rises and it adversely affects the area facing the sea. According to research, sea level rise could be as high as 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) above 2000 levels by 2100; in Majuro, the Marshall Islands, if the sea level rises 1m, most of the land will sink. If that happens, the citizens will lose their place of residence and they will have to move to another land. Furthermore, rising sea levels also affect the economy. Storm surges and tsunamis are more likely to occur, buildings and houses collapse, and large-scale damage can be expected. There is a possibility that it might have a big impact on the economy because it takes enormous costs to repair. The effects of rising sea levels is easy to imagine and the most noticeable climate change event.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

Industries and governments need to take stricter steps to stop climate change. As a deterrent to companies that emit a lot of CO2, it is necessary to put a price on carbon emissions. Similarly, it needs financial actions for fossil fuel companies. Power generation from gas, oil, and coal produces a lot of greenhouse gases and it is the cause of climate change. Thus, renewable energy is recommended and fossil fuel must be reduced. Government needs to eliminate subsidies for all oil, coal, and gas companies. In addition, the government should implement financial plans to reduce greenhouse gases for industries.

    a)What is DiCaprio’s main message?
DiCaprio insist on it is important to solve climate change for the future. Dealing with this problem is difficult, but it is achievable problem. In order to solve this problem, we need to take an action such as changing lightbulb or buying hybrid car individually, but also industry and government have to do as well such as put a price tag on carbon emissions, and eliminate government subsidies for oil, coal and gas companies. He said we can make history or criticize. Also, he mentioned this is the most urgent times and the most urgent messages. He suggests us taking an action to solve this problem.

b)He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
The most concern problem is that global warming because it occurs infection disease. According to IPCC fifth assessment report, in 2100, it is announced that temperature will rise by up to 4.8 degree. By raising 1 degree, food and drought are easily to happen. Flood leads to poor hygiene, then cholera spread. Also, poor drainage causes dengue and malaria epidemic due to increased mosquito outbreak. Furthermore, Global warming causes changes in biological ecosystems. Not only will outbreak occur, but pathogens in the mosquito’s body will grow faster. Regarding of Dengue fever, there are 35 percentages of the world’s high-risk area, but it is expected to reach about 60 percentages by 2085. In order to prevent this problem, developed countries should try to reduce greenhouse gasses.

c)“This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
They should impose carbon tax. It reduces environmental impact by raising fossil fuel prices.
The purpose is reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which is a cause of global warming. This policy is aim at individual, industries and government. In fact, individual can care for carbon tax, but the power of one person is small. That is why industries and government have to take this policy. The company that makes effort to reduce carbon can get a profit. However, the company that do not so cannot get a profit. Some Europe counties are introducing this policy. If industries and government around the world take this action, it is lead to reduction of greenhouse gasses.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
He wants to state climate crisis is not a fiction but a real problem and we must try to get to work right now. Although everyone knows this problem is a serious for the world and even for them, they do not eagerly do for the problem. Droughts, acidified oceans, extreme weather and melting ice are caused by climate change. This is not hysteria, it is a fact and nowadays events. Although, this disaster has grown beyond the choices that individuals make, it is achievable task. Not only people living the world, industry and government have to do large scale action. We have to remember that it is not a question of politics, it is a question of our own survival. Moreover, this is most urgent problem. We must do some action to this real problem.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
I am most concerned about a drought because I have not been affected by droughts. Almost events that he mentioned sometimes affect my life. For example, extreme weather results in dangerous heat stroke. On the other hand, I have not experienced problems resulting from a drought. So, I have a little knowledge about it only from media or books and I do not know how terrible and dangerous it is. That is why I consider about a drought the most.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
Industries and governments must do large scale actions. For example, they have to put a price tag on carbon emissions, and eliminate government subsidies for all oil, coal and gas companies. This action compounds to cause increasing climate problems. He stated that governments should not spend their country’s budget on unsustainable energies. Moreover, he argued they must support ecosystem. Otherwise, economy will collapse. Fortunately, renewable energy is not only achievable, but also good economic policy. This means industries and governments can carry out solving climate crisis while keeping upturn economy. For those reasons, he claimed they should take a large action especially related to financial.

Hi, Rika! I agree with your idea which you concerns about drought the most. As you mentioned, we don’t feel effects by drought, but this desease could cause significant effects. I also suppose that we should think about drought the most.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
His main message is that we need to take actions not individuals but the organization to prevent climate change. Especially our governments and our industries around the world should take decisive large-scale action. He concretely claims some approaches that putting a price tag on carbon emission, and eliminate government subsidies for all oil, coal, and gas companies. In addition, our ecosystems are more important than our economy because if the system collapses, our economy itself will die. We have to tackle these actions to keep our society.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
The climate issue I am concerned about is droughts because global warming is brought by a lack of forests and dry soil. Due to decreasing the amount of forests, carbon dioxide can not be absorbed enough. This is one of the reasons for global warming.
Moreover, droughts cause flood injuries. For these reasons, I admit that preventing droughts is a significant theme.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

DiCaprio mentioned industries and governments need to start putting a price tag on carbon emissions and eliminate government subsidies for all oil, coal, and gas companies. And we need to stop the free ride that industrial polluters have been given in the name of a free-market economy. Moreover, he claimed these organizations do not deserve the tax dollars, they deserve the scrutiny. Fortunately, we find that renewable energy is not only achievable but also a good economic policy. Individual actions are important but these effects are weak so that industries and governments have to take this policy.

Hello, Kaori! I agree with your opinion that droughts are the most concerned events. Without taking care of it, not only do a small region damage to famine, but also a large area affects it eventually. Thus, I also believe our society need to focus on solving this disaster as soon as possible.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
He strongly stated that people in the world have to take actions to solve climate change right now and especially industries and government must take measures for prevent climate change. Also, he mentioned that each of citizens should have same positions for climate change that is not a fictious story and cooperate each other. Moreover, he enhanced his opinion by using the quote “climate change is our single greatest security threat”. The most thing he wanted to claim is that climate change is the most serious and urgent problem for human and we have to take actions right now. In addition, he believes that the actions and power of each countries’ leaders are essential for solving the problem.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
He mentioned that many climate change events have occurred such as droughts, extreme weather evens, melting glaciers and so on. It concerns me that extreme weather events affect various environmental aspects such as West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets melting at unprecedented rates. Melting glaciers caused a crisis not only for creatures of Arctic and Antarctic but also other regions of the world like Tuvalu. So, many people and species has been affected by it. Also, extreme weather events have occurred around the world. For example, it caused guerrilla rainstorm in Japan and forest fire in Australia and California. Extreme weather events occur more frequently furthermore, every time it happens, many humans and creatures’ life are exposed to risk. That’s why I worried about it. 125

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
He stated two actions that industries and government around the world should take to prevent climate change. First one is putting a price tag on carbon emissions and abolishing government subsidies for all oil, coal and gas companies. By doing it, industries and government can have more responsibility for carbon emissions and contribute to prevent climate change. Second one is promoting renewable energy. Regarding renewable energy, he insisted that it can lead good economic policy in addition to the fact that it is achievable as a measure for climate change. Although it is also significant that every single citizen take action for climate change, industries and government that have enormous influence in both solving and progressing climate change should take actions right away.

    a) What is Dicaprio’s message

Dicaprio insisted that climate change is our single greatest security threat. Unfortunately, this issue is not solved by individuals make because the disaster has grown beyond one human’s action; for example, changing light bulbs and buying a hybrid car doesn’t work to solve this significant issue. Therefore, industries and our governments around the world should work on this problem with large-scale action as soon as possible. He mentioned that his message is the most urgent matter, and this is the most urgent time to deal with climate change. He doesn’t want to pretend for a living.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

He stated about many climate change events; they were droughts, the acidifying ocean, and melting Greenland ice. I concern the most that droughts are intensifying because nature and society really depend on the water regardless of a drought’s stage. Therefore, issues associated with drought can have economic, environmental, and social impacts, so if the droughts have grown more, many kinds of issues happened at the same time. Most of the economic impacts of drought are associated with agriculture, but the lack of water can cause disputes between users of available water. In conclusion, drought can cause many types of issues at the same time, so this issue should be solved as soon as possible.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

He mentioned that we need a large amount of power like governments and industries to deal with the disaster because individual power doesn’t work enough. He suggested that we need to put a price tag on carbon emissions, and eliminate government subsidies for all oil, coal, and gas companies. And also, he described that we need to end the free ride that industrial polluters have been given in the name of a free-market economy. In addition, industries and governments should invest in renewable energy because electricity is necessary for our living. If we could generate electricity in a renewable way, we could keep our living without emitting carbon dioxide. However, the cost of renewable energy is a significantly large scale, so industries and governments have to expand renewable energy. In conclusion, all countries should be responsible for climate change, and they should do large-scale actions which control companies, avoid economic collapse and expand renewable energy.
