    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?

His main message is that global climate change is an urgent problem and we need to resolve the global climate. Also, he said that now every week we’re seeing new and undeniable climate events evidence that accelerated climate change is here. For example, droughts are intensifying and our oceans are acidifying with methane plumes rising up from the ocean floor. We are seeing extreme weather events and the West’s Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets melting at unprecedented rates. Moreover, he said that these issues are not just problems of the government. This problem affects our survival. I learned about overpopulation last week. I think overpopulation and climate change are related, because a lot of greenhouse gasses are produced if the number of humans increases, and climate change would become a big issue. We need to think about our future and offspring.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

I am concerned about ice melting, because it is not just melting ice. It is reducing the land where animals live. Polar bears are the most good example. They are just living, they are losing their place to live, even though they aren’t bad. All problems are humans. Also, it connects human’s live. Our lands sink into the water or sea when ice melts. Most people live without a sense of crisis, but we don’t know that humans will be able to live on the lands 50 or 100 years from now. Therefore, we need to think about ice melting.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

My opinion is that the industries and governments should propose more specifically and implement it. Global warmings leads to climate change. For example, it is not about reducing greenhouse gasses, it’s about banning 50% of what we emit. In addition, the government needs to make the public more aware. It means that the government should speak to people more.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. As you mentioned, ice melting is also a serious problem and animal habitats are decreasing. This problem is caused by people. People don’t only take animal land, but also people might take animal lives. Moreover, it is important to know that human lands also decrease. We have to think of a way to survive with each other for a long time.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I totally agree with your opinion about ice melting. Poler bears are not to blame, more of victims. I think human will start to think ice melting seriously when it starts to affect theirs life directly. However it’s too late to solve it. It’s only human that use its brain deeply on the earth. We should use it not only for our survival but also the earth survival.

His message is that humans have to be interested in their climate crisis and try to solve them. Every week, people face new and undeniable climate events and this speed is accelerating. Some extreme weather events like droughts and the rise in sea level are also caused now. However, the scientific community, industry, government and the United States military haven’t worked enough yet. Therefore, he suggests climate change becomes our single greatest security threat. Now must be our moment for action, and humans need to pay for carbon emissions they exhaust and eliminate government subsidies for fossil. Many kinds of renewable energy are used now. If humans use them, the ecosystem is protected and climate change might stop.

    b)
I am concerned about a rise in temperature because it affects our lives the best. At first, because of the heat, plants and vegetables are not growing. Their harvests are decreasing, but the prices are increasing. Increases in the price disturb people’s health because they cannot buy vegetables easily and their nutrition will be lacking. Secondly, heat causes health problems and our actions are restricted. When temperature is high, the risk of heat stroke increases, so people stay in cool places and they don’t play any sports to prevent it. From two points of view, the temperature should not be hot. The temperature is going up every year and the average temperature is expected to rise 1.25 degrees by 2027. A rise in temperature is related to global warming, so we have to solve this serious problem immediately.

    c)
At first, the industries should use renewable energy to generate electricity. Renewable energy doesn’t have a bad influence on the environment and the industries can keep using renewable energy because it doesn’t disappear. In addition, the industries shouldn’t cut trees a lot. If trees are kept cutting, it will be related to deforestation, drought and destruction. Next, the government should create rules about how to dispose of waste to let humans focus on 3R which means reduce, reuse and recycle. Moreover, the government should create a law that taxes the amount of garbage if humans throw a lot of waste away. I think tax is the most effective method in many ways because people don’t want to pay.

I think that the news tells us not to exercise too much outside and to turn on the air conditioning in the room in Japan. However, it is not good for us, because physical strength weakens and uses electricity which leads to global warming.

I agree with taxes on garbage. I usually don’t feel my garbage makes the earth pollute, but taxes would be a trigger for us. Also, if companies have to pay taxes, they would make efforts to reduce garbage because they want to decline the price of products. I think that is efficient for reducing carbon footprints.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
He mainly claimed that industries and governments around the world have to take decisive and large-scale action to solve the damages caused by climate events. Every week people see undeniable climate events, evidence that accelerated climate change. It is beyond individual choices, therefore the industries and governments should put a price tag on carbon emissions, eliminate government subsidies for oil, coal, gas companies, and end the free ride by industrial polluters and encourage renewable energies. He asked leaders of the world to face the problems with courage and honesty.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
I am concerned about drought the most because it leads to several serious problems that make humans die. For example, decreasing harvest of crops, rising risk of forest fire, and desertification. These problems make people starve and it steals living spaces from people. Drought approximately occupies 60% of the cause of death in the world. Also, lack of water makes hydroelectric power plants stop and it leads to a declining economy. Drought has a huge risk of threatening human life and the country’s development.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” What action should industries and governments take?
Industries should make efforts to reduce carbon footprint as manufacturing products. They should use renewable energy, decrease garbage, and recycle resources. Also they should make an appeal of their sustainable efforts toward consumers, and brand image that makes consumers consider ecosystems and buy sustainable products. Governments should set a clear-cut goal of reducing carbon dioxide and encourage the industries to make efforts to reduce footprints. Also, governments should cooperate with other countries and share the goal. Not only some countries, but all countries should make efforts for environmental issues. If not, there will be conflict between countries and not proceed to solve issues. All governments sharing the solution and goal of environmental issues and
they have to respect each other.

It clearly shows that he wants each leader of the countries to focus on solving this problem.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

Intencifying droughts concerns me most, because the price of foods might be higher, the quality of foods might be lower due to it. When the drought progress, some agricultural space are not going to be able to be used because of a lack of the water, and farmers will have to water their farm more. Then the agricultural cost will be more expensive, and a supply of the vegetable will also be higher. It is strongly connected to my life, so it is the most concernable problem for me.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

In my opinion, the car industory should focus on a electrical cars production more, and increase the price of fossil fuel cars. Though it depends on how electricity is made, riding on an electric car is an good idea to cut the emission of CO2. Nowadays, the price of electrical cars tends to be more expencive than other cars because of its battery, so, many pepole prefer buying cheaper cars, such as a fossil fuel cars. However, if the demand of the electrical car is high, investors will try to invest company which focus on an electric cars production. They should make their fossil cars production slower, and make the price of it more expencive. Then, the demand of electric cars will be higher.

    a) What is DicaPrio’s massage ?

He argued that undeniable climate change events have accelerated right now beyond the choices individuals make and our industries and governments have ignored it and given priority to our economic growth. They should stop their dishonest attitude and think about it seriously, they are responsible for it. It’s not a fiction, it’s a fact. Solving this crisis is connected to not only our economic growth but also our survival directly. They must not think about it as a tool of winning votes at elections. If our ecosystem is destroyed because of climate changes, the economy that they love will die. Renewable energy is not only achievable, but good economic policy. It’s time to act for humankind’s greatest challenge. People have already acted as a member who lives on the earth. Our government and industries should take action and respond to people who have taken action to deter climate change.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

He mentioned extreme drought, ocean acidification, and ice sheets melting at unprecedented rates. My biggest concern is intensified drought. I learned people rely on agriculture to earn money and feed their large family. If extreme droughts happen, how can they make a profit? I think it’s unfair because it ‘s caused by extreme weather produced by developed countries, not by their developing countries. In developing countries, there are many people beyond their capacity. Many people will be killed by this drought if it happens many times. I also think why the governments and industries in developed countries don’t care about it is because they don’t have the opportunity to see this serious situation directly, they live in different countries. They lack it and use it as a resource for their economic advantage.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

Industries and governments should consider the bad effects of climate change seriously. They are only worried about their economy and think the best tool of making profits is using plants to increase efficiency. They should take the long view for their future. Industrialization can make profits easily and quickly but can cause climate change. Climate change affects our lives and if it gets worse, the earth could eventually disappear. They should always be aware of it and then make rules. Their priority is to think deeply about the permanent survival of the earth.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
Climate events are getting close and familiar issue for us. All of us know that climate change is a difficult problem. Don’t pretend for a living, but we should take an action for climate change as much as we can to make a livable environment.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
I concern extreme weather. In summer, I feel it’s getting walmer recent years in Japan, and summer term is getting longer and spring and fall are getting shorter. It is like always 35 degrees or more in the highest temparature. Because of this extremely hot weather in summer, some schools changed spots festival day from May to October. In addition, due to the extreme weather, it is more likely to have floods and tyhoons in Japan. When I lived in Kyushu, it rained a lot in the rainy season, and in some places such as Kitakyushu and Kumma, huge disaster happened and some people died because of landslide due to the rain. Every year there are some disasters happen due to heavy rain around Japan. Not only Japan, but also I sometimes hear that because of floods, people in the world are having trouble. Moreover, when it comes to say about winter, I feel like snowing too much in Northern Japan. I’ve heard a news, which is said because of the heavy snowing, people couldn’t move and had to wait a snowplow truck. Probably there are more disaster caused by extreme weather, and people in the world are troubled.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
Industries should not use fossil fuel too much. I know that burning fossil fuel is the easiest way to make energy, however, I think they are relying on such kind of fuels too much. I don’t say that they have to stop using fossil fuel completely, but I think they should add more sustainable and renewable energy such as solar powered energy, biomass energy, and water powered energy into their ways of getting electricity.
Government should support more companies which contribute to producing eco-friendly items rather than banning and putting slight prices on plastic baggs or introduce paper straws. In my opinion, manufacturer use fuels which emit carbon dioxide to make paper straws, so it is no use to change from plastic straws. Even if the purpose of using paper straw is to reduce the amount of plastic products, carbon dioxide which came from the proceess of making paper straws and disposing with fire can be other factor of environmental issues. Rather, they should support money for companies which are trying to make eco-friendly products such as reusable tumblar, water bottle, and lunch box. I think it’s much better even if carbon dioxide were made at making those kind of products, but the products are reusable, so the total amount of carbon dioxide emmision is much lower.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?

He mentioned that climate change is now a growing and significant problem. We can see this problem with our own eyes. This problem may seem fictional, but it is not fiction, it is real. For example, droughts are intensifying, oceans are acidifying with methane plumes rising up from the ocean, West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets are melting at unprecedented rates. We should embrace this situation and work on actually acting on it. If we don’t do anything now, the economy will be dead soon. In addition, he states we face a difficult achievable task. It’s possible to solve it. He suggests putting a price tag on carbon emissions, eliminating government subsidies for oil, coal, gas companies. He also states the positive aspects of solving this problem. It’s achievable to use renewable energy and efficient for economic policy.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

In my opinion, drought is the biggest problem. This is related to the food we eat. I recently saw an article about Indian rice exports to the U.S. being restricted. This is because of a shortage of rice due to extreme drought. A similar problem was found with coffee. The drought in Brazil has reduced the coffee harvest by many times compared to previous years, and as a result, the price of coffee has more than doubled. Both problems are also related to rising demand as well as drought. In the U.S., Indian immigration continues to grow and the demand for rice is increasing. As for coffee, especially in Japan after the pandemic, more people are drinking coffee at home and demand for rare beans is high. In addition, the working style is shifting to remote, and more work is being done in cafes. A decrease in harvest doesn’t necessarily mean a decrease in demand. Drought is a matter of human life. If it continues, people will die from lack of food.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” What actions should industries and governments take?

Companies should switch from the use of non-renewable energy to the use of renewable energy. Certainly, using non-renewable energy is easier and more efficient. For example, oil can be converted into a lot of energy in a small amount. It is also versatile and, in terms of cost-effectiveness, must be used. In addition, many conventional machines and plants have features that are not compatible with renewable energy and are hesitant to change. However, that will never change. We need to become pioneers in our own right, not wait until some country or some company does it.

    a)What is DiCaprio’s main message?
His main message is that the industries or governments around the world should take actions for climate change. Many people hope to solve the climate crisis. Every week, abnormal climate change happens, which demonstrates that climate change is on the way. It is the greatest challenge to solve in human history. It is not a question of politics, it is essential for humans to survive. There are limits to what individuals can do, so larger organizations need to move. World’s leaders must quickly answer humankind’s greatest challenge.

b)He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
Melting the West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets concerns me the most. Firstly, melting ice leads to rising sea levels. If sea level continues rising, the land will be smaller and we can’t live in the future. Secondly, wild animals living in extreme colds lose their homes. It makes ecosystems destroy, so melting ice is my greatest concern. Furthermore, I think the melting of ice is the most visible and obvious effect of global warming. We can see how ice has melted from space photography and the speed of melting is at a tremendous rate. So, it let me know that it is one of the most urgent problems to solve.

c)“This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action” What actions should industries and governments take?
Industries should make efforts to introduce products with low carbon emissions and the government should make a law to prevent companies from emissing mass greenhouse gas. If eco-friendly products are produced, everyone can use them, which leads to a big impact for the environment. One person’s influence may be small, but when many people act, great results can be achieved. In addition, citizens can’t make laws, so the government should make laws. It can also yield big impacts for the world.

We should realize our tax are used for contributing global warming and global warming we cause threatens our lives. Now, personal care is not enough to stop global warming. changing way of industries and government is needed for helping people all over the world.

2)I concern about extreme weather events because in Japan, the area that typhoon comes easily is in danger to live. Extreme weather causes many typhoons before they don’t recovery. Moreover, Japan used to have more diversity. Warming temperature kill some creatures because they were not alive warming temperature. People also used to be able to live without air conditioner in summer but now temperature is higher than people can live comfortable without air conditioner nevertheless, air conditioners are used in night for comfortable sleep. Air conditioner use numerous energy that are created by power plants. 80% of all electric-generating capacity is thermal power generation that use fossil fuel, oil, coal in Japan. Besides, many rains unprecedented causes river rise, no rain causes droughts. these change leads to dangerous living.

3)Government should stop to pay subsidies for all oil, coal and gas companies. Industries should stop to emit carbon. however, actually, they use these materials for people living so that they also should another way that do not need these materials like renewable energy. In 2016, Paris agreement was agreed but some countries have not achieved the goal. Government should strictly control the numerical value about environmental pollution. 1)DiCaprio’s main message is Mankind’s climate change is accelerating in modern times and is manifested in various phenomena.
It is a phenomenon that every industry, every country, and every person on the planet knows. this disaster had grown beyond the choices that individuals make. This is now about our industries and our governments around the world, taking decisive large-scale action. Governments and big companies all over the world must take decisive action against this. For example, the government must not abolish subsidies for fuels such as oil and coal. Moreover, his most important message is the time to answer humankind’s greatest challenge is now.

    2)
The West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets are melting at an unprecedented rate. Melting ice sheets release large amounts of fresh water into the ocean. This freshwater influx changes the salinity of the seawater, affecting ocean currents and circulation patterns. This can change climate patterns and affect the global climate system. In addition, melting ice sheets will affect glacial and ice ecosystems. For the organisms that live on the ice and the ecosystem around the glacier, the habitat conditions will change due to the reduction of ice, which may affect biodiversity and the food chain. if biodiversity and the food chain are broken, it leads to the destruction of the food we eat. This phenomenon is not only a place problem but also food and plants. therefore, The West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets melting is the problem we need to solve quickly.

Because as he said that, if we didn’t do nothing, the economy would die. When I studied SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals) at university, This is the best choice to solve climate change. Almost of all carbon emission is caused by some companies and if government doesn’t put a price tag, these company continue to use it because their main income is from them. And also government should take the action which is based on GHG protocol. This is formulated in 2011 to measure how to emit GHG more and more detail. There are three scopes. Scope 1 is emitted directly by the company. Scope 2 is emitted indirectly by the other companies through which the company use electricity or something. And Scope 3 is the others like use of products. Because, nowadays some companies don’t show their data of carbon emission more detail. So We need this protocol for transparency of data.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?

He talked about climate change and his worries from one of the citizens’ perspectives, not as an actor. He described the marching by those who want to solve climate change in the streets of New York. He quoted the chief of US Navy’s Pacific Command Admiral Samuel Locklear saying that climate change is the single greatest security threat. And, to solve this global problem is not only difficult but also an achievable task. He also said, climate change has grown beyond the choices that individuals make. He argued that humans must make a movement to solve the problem right now. According to Mr. DiCaprio, We need to put a price tag on carbon emission and eliminate government subsidies for resources companies. Additionally, he used strong expressions like “Clean air and a livable climate are inalienable human rights, and solving this crisis is not a question of politics, it is a question of our own survival.” And he told us that is a very urgent thing. I think he wanted to tell us, each and every one of us must have our own will and act seriously to face this climate change problem.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?

He mentioned some kinds of climate change events. I am concerned about ice sheets melting at unprecedented rates the most. If the ice melts and the water level rises, there is a danger that the land will be submerged. It means there may be less land available for people to live on.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?

Industries and governments need to take new steps to protect humans’ precious and limited resources. In this video, his opinion is that there should be a fee for carbon emissions. Also he argued that subsidies to oil, coal, and gas companies should be abolished.

B)As he mentioned, climate change is a problem beyond individual control. I don’t have much concern about issue I can’t deal with and I can’t change, so I don’t have any particular thoughts about climate change. However, the governments and society can come to an agreement and take appropriate measures.

C)Leo advocated eliminating various subsidies and benefits for oil and coal industries while putting a price tag on gas emissions. I agree with him. I believe that one of the most crucial skills for survival is the ability to differentiate between what is essential and what is unnecessary, and to prioritize accordingly. Therefore, recognizing how important it is to address climate change for surviving, it is appropriate to allocate our resources to where they are most needed first.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
His main message is that the climate change problem is serious and people need to act now to solve the problem. Also, he said that Industries and government around the world have to take decisive large-scale action now. Every week, the world is seeing undeniable climate change events like droughts and rising sea levels. He also argued that government and industry have to take action because the problem is beyond the capacity of individuals to solve by their own choices. He encouraged people around the world to take action now to solve the climate change problem.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
I am most concerned about the drought issue because droughts cause serious problems for the lives of people. It is expected that the drought will cause water shortages and affect agriculture. Being able to get a steady supply of water and food is very important for human life. In addition, droughts destroy ecosystems, and it is said that it is difficult to recover destroyed ecosystems. Therefore droughts is the issue that I am most concerned about.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
Industries should need to think very carefully about the environmental impact of their products. For example, we often see over-packaged products in Japan. In Japan, 4,260 tons of packaging containers are thrown away, and only 1,040 tons of these are recycled. I think it is necessary for the industry to make efforts such as changing to recyclable products. In addition, governments can have a significant impact on the behavior of citizens and companies through laws and policies. For example, I think that putting a tax on products that are bad for the environment and announcing companies that are doing good things for the environment are some of the actions that the government can do. So I think it is important for the government to encourage people to act better for the environment.

He expresses his concern for climate change as a citizen. Climate change has become a global issue that requires collective action, and it’s already extremely urgent. He hopes that leaders of every country can confront this issue honestly and courageously. Through national policies and concrete actions, he wishes to see the Earth being saved!

    b.
What concerns me the most is the intensification of drought. In recent years, as global temperatures continue to rise, climate change has led to more frequent occurrences of extreme weather events. Unusual high temperatures, prolonged droughts, and inadequate rainfall have all exacerbated the difficulty in controlling forest fires sparked by human deforestation activities. Recently, witnessing numerous reports of wildfires, like the ones in Hawaii, it’s disheartening to see such naturally stunning islands fall victim to disasters, resulting in the loss of lives. Statistics from the B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) shows wildfires have burned more than 14,100 square kilometers of land this year, breaking the record of just over 13,500 square kilometers set in 2018. We should protect our earth, starting with our own environmental protection.

He argued that climate change, which is accelerating every week, is a difficult problem but an achievable task. And now is the time to resolve this event. To do that, we need to put a price tag on carbon emissions and end government subsidies to all oil, coal, and gas companies.
They should be scrutinized before our ecosystem collapses and our economy itself collapses.
Moreover, he stressed that solving this problem is not a matter of politics but of our own survival.

    b)
The climate change event that concerns me the most is extreme weather events. Because the country I live in has also frequently experienced extreme weather. For example, flood damage due to heavy rains and health damage due to global warming. These events not only do interfere with our daily lives, but in the worst cases, they can even cause death. Extreme weather events are the most familiar problem and are an opportunity for people to face it seriously. Therefore, I think it should be solved as soon as possible.

    c)
Industries need to know how much carbon they emit. It is also important to consider new materials to reduce emissions and carry out afforestation activities to fulfill their social responsibility. Also, I think that governments should be responsible for the numerical carbon emissions targets they impose on companies. It is necessary to have a system that imposes penalties on companies that do not achieve their numerical targets.

    1) His main message is people have to consider about climate change seriously, but it isn’t personally, it need government and some company’s action. For example, we have to raise the price about carbon emission, and stop to the subsidies for oil and gas companies. To solve such problems is good for economy too. Now, the global warming is in urgent situation for all over the world.

    2) I am concerned about extreme weather events, for example heat wave, heavy rain and increase the average of temperature. It affect to our life directly, and it makes difficult situation for wild animals. Also, it will be a bad influence for agriculture. It will be able to change original products for each area, sometimes farmer or fisherman cannot continue their own job. Then the price of groceries will be increase, and we have to pay more cost to them. In Japan, some accidents are happened by heavy rain these days, for example, the landslip are broke houses and inhabitants were died. In Canada, the high temperature is one of the cause of wildfire, so I think such whether events are big problem for us. Furthermore, some bad weather cause to health problem. People will get a heatstroke by too high temperature, and some people died because of it. We have to protect ourselves from weather events.

    3) I think carbon hydrate is one of the big cause for global warming. In my opinion, government have to decide a guideline about the number of emission of carbon hydrate and industries must keep it. As DiCaprio said, to raise the price for the products that doesn’t fill the guideline is one of the good way to keep it. I think it is also a good way to give the subsidies for people when we buy some products that fill the guideline. Then it help the people to choose buying some product that good for environment, and it will be able to prevent deterioration about the situation.

His main argument about climate change which fact that climate change is rapidly increasing and everyone know the climate change is more serious problem but nobody nose actions.
It is impossible for one person to make a change, not even the actor himself. This is what I want the leaders of the country to do. He pretends to make a normal living.
But in reality, he is not.

I choose the most concern about the extreme weather. I am from Japan. In Japan, there are places where it doesn’t snow and places where it does. Where I live, it snows and gets very cold in the winter, but the summer is pleasant. However, I heard that this summer was very hot. Where I live, the temperature in the summer is at most 30 degrees Celsius, but this summer I heard that the temperature rose to 37 degrees Celsius. Many houses do not have air conditioners because we have never had such temperatures. This makes me feel that global warming is progressing. As you can see in this video, we know that global warming is happening, but we don’t know how to solve it. I felt that global warming is going to continue to progress like this.
    (3)
I think the government should take some action. For example, call on the people. In fact, the people should know that global warming is getting worse, but this progression will not be cured because the people are not actually taking any action. Therefore, the government should take the initiative to take some action. For example, in response to the fact that garbage in the ocean is increasing, I suggest that people volunteer to pick up garbage. Then, offer lunch and drinks to those who participate in volunteer activities. This would encourage the public to participate in volunteer activities. It would also be a good idea to hold training sessions. We need to learn more about how global warming is actually happening. By learning more about the situation of global warming, we will be able to think for ourselves.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
Humans have stared at climate change as if it were a fiction, as if it would somehow fit in. But now we are witnessing new and unmistakable climate changes. For example, droughts, ocean acidification, methane gas rising from the ocean floor, and extreme weather events such as melting ice in West Antarctica in Greenland. These are all facts. Climate change is expanding beyond individual choice, so now is the time for decisive, large-scale action by industries and governments around the world. Moreover, solving this crisis is not a matter of politics, but of our own survival, and now is the most urgent time.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
I am most concerned about the climate change in West Antarctica in Greenland. This is because Greenland ice is melting at a rate that is decades ahead of scientific predictions. Thus Melting Greenland ice could raise sea levels and put coastal areas at risk of flooding and inundation. If all of the Greenland ice were to melt, global sea levels are projected to rise by 7.6 meters. Furthermore, in areas like Venice, Italy, where the impact of sea level rise would be significant, people would find it difficult to live on the land and may have to evacuate or relocate, or their traditional culture and historic buildings could be lost. And also, ecosystems are also expected to change, as habitats for many animals may be lost and it may be more difficult for certain animals to live in suitable environments. I felt this was a very frightening problem. Therefore, it was predicted that this situation would cause countless problems, and it was felt that it would be very frightening for people around the world to live without being well informed about this.

Melting West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets issue is that I concern the most. Nowadays, I saw a lot of news according to this topic. This problem shows global warming obviously. If the ice melted, sea surface will go up gradually. Also, there are over 4 million people who is living in Greenland, so they have to migrate somewhere else. Their hometown will be disappeared. Moreover, there are many mammals as well. They also lost their residence and the worst thing is that they will starve and extinct. Like this, there are many influences in melting ice. We can’t see what is going on in West Antarctic and Greenland certainly because it is far away from cities where we live in but, we should consider about this happening. They need to end the free ride that industrial polluters have been given in the name of a free-market economy. He stated that we as human race must have the courage to address this challenge now

b)The climate change events I am most concerned about are the average temperature increasing. It may cause a high frequency of torrential rains and flooding. For every 1℃ rise in temperature, daily precipitation is projected to rise by about 7%. Typhoon damage also increases due to the increased amount of water vapor in the atmosphere. In my home country of Japan, we suffer from floods and typhoons caused by heavy rainfall every year. Governments are constructing leaves and dams to prevent such damage. However, there are major disasters every year that cannot be prevented by such measures. So we have to remove the source of the cause of increasing temperature. What an individual can do is limited. So all governments of the world should make laws for the environment. As he also said, mankind must take very great responsibility for the unjust destruction of the homeland of us all.

c)Government and industry should set long-term goals and plans for steady efforts to decarbonize. Companies, in particular, should be proactive in taking action on climate change as a new growth opportunity for their companies. There are several specific benefits for companies. For example, aggressively reduce operating costs. Updating inefficient processes and energy-saving equipment that consume a lot of energy. It can reduce fuel costs and improve operational efficiency. And the government should provide support by subsidizing companies that make such efforts. More efficient and effective results can be achieved when the government and industry work together to address the climate change issue.

b)He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
He showed some climate change events. For example, intensifying droughts, acidified oceans, extreme weather events, and ice sheets melting in West Antarctic Greenland. I think drought is the most important issue for us, because it is related to our diet. If there is a severe drought in some countries, people cannot grow anything. And if there is no water in the reservoir, it will affect the water resources of a country. Such as Taiwan, it is not easy to preserve water resources. Therefore, if there is a long-term drought, it will have a very serious impact on Taiwan’s industries and people’s lives.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
In the video, there are some solutions that industries and governments have to take. It is to put a price tag on carbon emissions. Finally, Industrial polluters have to end the free ride that industrial polluters have been given in the name of a free-market economy. For instance, Droughts are intensifying, oceans are acidifying with methane plumes rising up from the ocean floor, extrem weather events, ice sheets melting at unprecedented rates and so on. In my opinion, extrem weather events are the biggest concern. He highlighted the devastating impacts already happening around the world, including extreme weather, sea level rise and biodiversity loss. DiCaprio called for a shift to renewable energy sources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and preserving natural habitats. His main message was intended to raise awareness and inspire world leaders and individuals to prioritize environmental conservation and sustainability.

a)His main message was the need to address climate change and protect the environment. He emphasized that climate change is real and its effects are already being felt in the environment and ecosystems. He also stressed that this problem cannot be solved at the individual level, but requires international cooperation by governments and businesses.
He suggested that to solve this problem, a surcharge must be attached to carbon dioxide emissions, and a transition to renewable energy sources is essential. He argued that not only is this feasible, but it is also good economic policy.

b)The climate change I am most concerned about is the melting of the West Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets at an unprecedented rate. As the ice sheets melt, some animals will lose habitat and become extinct. The collapse of ecosystems could also make it more difficult for us to secure food. Second, melting ice sheets and rising sea levels will have a particularly large impact on countries, especially those located in low-lying or coastal areas. This, of course, includes the island nation of Japan. In Japan, it is said that if sea level rises by about 1 meter, 90% of sandy beaches will disappear. This is only one meter, but it is a very large impact.

c)Industry and governments should step up their efforts to protect the environment, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This, of course, requires international cooperation and coordination, and the introduction of new energy policies and technologies to address climate change. This action should not be undertaken by any one country or industry alone, but by all countries. This is an issue for the entire human race on Earth. Even now, countries are making numerical targets and environmental efforts, but I feel that it is still not enough. Unless more serious efforts are made, we will not be able to solve this problem. It is also essential to transition to renewable energy, and investing in clean energy sources such as solar and wind power is an important step toward environmental protection and a sustainable future.

    a) What is DiCaprio’s main message?
His main message was that climate change is a very serious problem, so the government needs to move to control global warming. A lot of people know that they need to change something about their living to make our environment better. However, a lot of people pretend that they don’t know about it. He said that it is important for people to take action to control climate change because it causes a lot of disasters.

    b) He mentioned that many climate change events are happening. Which one concerns you the most?
I think extreme weather is the event that I am concerned the most about. Extreme weather is a big event that happens after climate change. This can cause smaller events such as flooding, droughts, acidic ocean and ocean water rising. Flooding happens because of the hard rain, droughts happen because of not enough rain and extremely hot weather, and ocean water rises mainly because the ice melts. If all of them continue happening it will be difficult to live on Earth. The damage that was caused by those disasters cannot be easily fixed. It takes a lot of money and hands.

    c) “This disaster has grown beyond choices that individuals make. This is about industries and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action.” (2:15) What actions should industries and governments take?
I think there are two main actions that industries and governments should take. First is that they should call on citizens to be eco-friendly and reduce their amount of carbon footprint. They can reflect what and how much they are using energy. After reflection they should think of the time when you can use less energy, so that they can be eco-friendly. Second is that the government should make carbon taxes for the people who emit huge amounts of carbon dioxide. This could encourage people not to use too much energy because they need to pay money. This action is an important action for the organizations to control climate change.
